Great hospitality and Pleasent stay

I loved the camps in the lap of nature that too with all the possible facilities either it is great food or hygiene. The washrooms in camp promises were very clean.
Also, my first paragliding experience was awesome just because of Varun as he made us fly with one of best pilots there. I really enjoyed the stay and the services provided. Thanks to Varun who took care of everything we needed.

It’s a sweet little campsite in the woods. The bonfire in the evening and the lovely food made our night there a memorable one! Would love to visit again.

Perfect adventurous hideaway campsite !
A beautiful oasis – a hidden gem in the middle of the Himalayan valley. If you are looking for an offbeat stay in Bir-Billing, then camp oakview it is. The tents are beautifully done up with all amenities and yet rustic in charm. Varun Sharma and his team are very hospitable and helpful – and made our stay truly memorable. They also helped our group with the nearby treks / paragliding etc. They are also extremely friendly in their approach and their is no business-like urgency. Very heart warming.

But keep in mind that the approach to the campsite is through a long winding dirt road – extremely adventurous ! And the last 100 steps actually have to be taken on foot uphill, with bag & baggage. So travel light, wear proper shoes & bring along a fit body and open mind. Sitting under the stars, around a bonfire outside our tents, with the cutest house dog Amazon for company – was an experience worth remembering forever.

Only grouse was that the food was not very local in flavor as we’d expected. It was a bit too rich and oily – but tasty nonetheless. The campsite is also a bit far from the main marketplace, so if you are looking to be in the hub of activity & noise, then this place is not for you.

Slightly expensive, but definitely deserves a stay!

The tents were very comfortable, I would say more luxurious than any other tent I have stayed in my life. The staff was also very good, always available. The food was good. It is a nice play to stay if you want to be in the middle of the nature – the mountains, the greenery. We could only stay for a short duration – only during the night, and had to leave slightly early in the morning, hence felt that it turned out to be a bit expensive for us. But it was a great experience! :)

Awesome stay

Very lovely place! Was there for just one night and I wish I stayed more. The tents are comfortable and the food is quite good. Bonfire arrangements, a good music system. The best thing about the camp is that it is so neat and well-maintained. The overall feel of the place is just superb! Add to that the friendly behavior of the staff at the camp. This place is worth all your money and I would suggest to go there in a group. Thanks to Varun and his team for a memorable experience!

Wonderful Place to visit

It was a very wonderful experience with our trip to Bir Billing. We were 6 friends in total and there we met 4 more friends. We all 10 have a amazing camp fire in the evening. Then we played musical chair and other games in the night. Very peaceful place. Very calm. only few camps so only few people. so not like other crowded places. Owner Varun is a very nice person. We had lots of gossips with him. And yes interior of the camps was too good. The only betterment i can think is there should be some big camps so that a group of 5-6 people can stay in one camp only. Currently a camp can accommodate a maximum of 2 or 3 persons. Overall, its a must visit place.

Perfect weekend getaway!
It’s a perfect & a spot on place for people looking for some weekend relief. Calm, Serene and beautiful. Bir is the landing place for the paragliders near to which the chowgan chowk is situated. Paul Manor is nice hotel to get you all set (relaxing once you reach & changing your attire to suit the local weather) to discover and explore this city. Irrespective of the plan you have, whether its trekking to some camp location or by getting there driving, it all looks good. Saturday ends with a beautiful sunset and Sunday begins with the flying thrill. All in all, Varun, Arvind Paul and company makes sure that your stay is superb throughout. Alas, they have a cute German (Amazon) in the camp! :)

Perfect place for a weekend getaway

Stayed here for a night and loved the hospitality of owner Mr Varun.

The resort is located almost 6-8 kms from the para gliding landing site nestled between the mountain range. Only thing one might come across are birds chirping or para gliders hover above occasionally :)

The Swiss tents adds to the soothing ambiance of the place. The tents are neat and clean. Each tent can accommodate 3 ppl. Food is prepared in the resort itself and is tasty. Music is played beside the bonfire so that groups can shake their legs if they wish to.

There is no television or Wifi but at pleases like its its better to avoid these.

We booked paragliding during our stay which was very well organized by Varun and Pankaj.

This resort may be pricey but worth visiting in groups.

It was an amazing experience.

To start with, Camp Oak View is in between the mountains. Varun is a great guy. He made sure we had a great time and was with us all the time.

The food was simply amazing. I mean, you don’t expect such tasty food in between the mountains. I know the stay is a bit pricy but it’s worth each and every penny.

Highly recommended.

A very beautiful and serene place. Had an absolutely wonderful time. Experienced camping in natural surroundings with only the sounds of chirping birds surrounding you. The campfire was so amazing considering that the weather was freezing!!! And the paragliding experience was out of the world!!! The trek to the paragliding take off point was so awesome!! The view!!!
And being a foodie, I loved the food prepared at this camp! Stuffed ourselves till we could eat no more!
Make sure to go in a big group. They have enough number of tents to accommodate a party of 10-12 ppl! A must visit place!

Mesmerizing & Hospitality at its best!

I was really confused for our 1st vacation of this year & after a week of talking with my husband we decided for Bir billing (Mainly because of Paragliding). The task ahead me was the hotel booking and planning the whole trip. While searching I checked with my husband if he is good with camping as well and his one yes turned our trip the most memorable one. I immediately checked with Camp Oak View and after rounds of emails we finalized one of their package with complete itinerary. We drove from Delhi to Bir (With a night halt at Mohali).

There hospitality started even before we reached there. We got a call from one of their person asking us where have we reached & to give him a call once we have reached Palampur so that they can direct us. Upon reaching Madher chowk , that person was continuously in touch with us & met us half the way & took us to CAMP OAK VIEW. I can not forget that cute door which they have, symbolizing the start of the camp area. The whole view was breathtaking. With each passing moment I was being in love with the place more & more.

Since it was a weekday it was only me & my husband there & still they planned everything for us very nicely. Food was amazingly good, bonfire with that soft music (ohhhh i want to go back to that moment), trekking with that local uncle who never got tired and we kept asking him to go slow…paragliding trip to Billing and taking us back to hotel paul manor where our car was parked….everything was just superb.

It was our anniversary and apparently they remembered it (Mentioned in one of my email to them) and when we came back from trekking they were ready with flower arrangement & cake. That was such a sweet gesture which we will remember for a long long time…They even made the dinner arrangement around bonfire for 2 of us.

The camps are clean inside with comfortable mattress, warm blankets & they provided us hot water bag each of the night.

Big thanks to Varun & his team for all the efforts in making this as one of the most memorable trip for us & yes we will definitely come back to this place when it is at its full bloom. :)

Little Hamlet

Finally a time for my review.. Consider myself lucky to have been to Camp Oak view twice in month of October only. Surrounding is just beautiful..oak forests..if you have booked all 5 bell tents for a group or family…its a feel of exclusive camping especially pitched for u . The way to camp is quite adventurous via jungle trail and one can not expect such level of amenities and services but when u reach there..everything so organized.
Now starting one by one – Location.. little far from the town but that hardly matters when you are getting to stay at such a perfect place, Tents… neat and clean on dbl n triple sharing with an important service..a charging point, Bonfire n Breakfast area…superb..loved that ken furniture, food… yummm..served in a very decent manner must say, washrooms…sparkling clean, music…wow..what a collection , staff.. so humble..polite..hospitable and last but not the least Varun whose managing the place…wonderful person..always a smile on his face…so welcoming..always there to help you and guide you. We went for a nature walk around the camp on his suggestion and it was a wonderful experience. Everything was perfectly managed…So all in all… Camp oak view is highly recommended..whether you are with family or friends… staying there is a value addition to your trip. Go and experience yourself…

Somethings in life are priceless. Staying in this camp is one of them!

Booking
On our Himachal sojourn, I and my wife were sure that we didn’t want to visit the usual places like Shimla, Dalhousie, Manali etc. We wanted something exciting and that’s when we got to know about this camp. There were multiple options that we could choose for and we opted for a package which has a trek and paragliding. We exchanged couple of calls and emails with Varun who owns this place and the booking was done seamlessly. This was just the start of something truly special.

Reaching Bir Billing
We were advised by Varun to reach Bir by 6 PM as the camp was in the middle of the forest. As the climate was foggy and it has rained in the morning, Varun advised us to finish off the Paragliding in late evening as the forecast was of more rain for the entire week. We were thrilled as that happened to be our 3rd Wedding Anniversary as well. We reached Bir around 3PM and were escorted by Babloo to the camp. It might be difficult to locate the camp without an escort though the maps show the exact location of the camp. After parking, you need to hike for about 100mts to reach the camp.

Accommodation
It was like finding an oasis in middle of a desert. The camp area is surrounded by thick green forest yet is very neat and clean. The tents are well spaced so as to maintain privacy. The tents are equipped with mattresses, blankets, towels, bottled water, a light and a charging point. You will not find even 1 speck of dust or stain inside the tent. The toilet and bathroom complex are separate and super clean. A lot of effort has gone into maintaining this place so neatly. There is no designated dining area but you can choose to have it under any of the tree or near the camp fire. The food is absolutely lip smacking. You can place your request if any and Pintu will be more than happy to make it for you. We wanted to taste something local and he had made a special sabzi out of Lungdu. The next day he made Khatiyal ki sabzi which was equally great to taste. The puri chole, paneer bhurji, aloo mater, dal……. basically everything he made was simply too good. Hot water was made available to us in the mornings by using Hamam for boiling the water.

Trek
We had opted for the 16KM village trail trek while booking. Varun introduced us to Khadak Singh – a 66 year young man who knows every nook and corner of these mountains. It was indeed refreshing to have such an enthusiastic man for company. He took us to such amazingly beautiful places that for once we thought we are in a foreign land. We got a feel of the local culture and cuisine when he took us to the house of a local farmer. As we were completely drenched in rain and shivering, the old man, Mr. Nihal Chand was kind enough to light a camp fire and make tea for us at his house. What hospitality! This certainly was the highlight of our trip. Finally after 16km and 9 hours of trekking, we came back to our camp by 6 PM. If you are trekking in rain, be careful of the leeches as we encountered lot of them during the trek.

Paragliding
This was the anniversary gift and Varun had booked the Paragliding ride for us at Arvind Paul’s Fly Bir Billing. The ride from Bir landing area to Billing take off zone was nothing short of an adventure with narrow roads and near zero visibility. We reached the top in about 30min and since it was foggy there were not many people waiting for the jump. Luckily, as soon as we reached, the fog cleared and we were ready for our jump. Prem, who was my pilot, gave me clear instructions on Dos and Donts and was very professional in his approach. We opted to video record the jump using a Go Pro. This will cost you 500 bucks but it’s worth the money. After you are strapped, you need to run for some distance till the edge of the cliff before u actually take off. Once you are in air, the feeling is of a bird for the next 15-20min. The mountains will look like they have been covered with a thick green carpet and clouds will feel like soft cotton. You will love every second you are in air and wish that the ride continued for a little longer. You can request the pilot to do some stunts in the air which will take the entire experience to the next level. As instructed by the pilot, I kept my legs parallel to the land while landing and after a 15min dream ride, we finally landed in Bir. The immediate feeling was I want to do it again and I want to do it now. There are few photographers available in the landing area who will click you landing photos and offer it to you for Rs 200. This experience was our best anniversary gift till date.

People
Varun, Lucky, Pintu, Babloo and Khadak Singh are the nicest people you can meet in Himachal. The warmth and hospitality shown by them cannot be described in words. You have to experience it to believe it. For the period of stay, this camp was our home – 3000km and 8500ft away. Thank you guys for giving us such memorable moments and making our trip ultra-special.

Amazing trekking experience!

Camp Oak view is situated away from it all, amongst rolling hills sprinkled with local farms. The property is beautiful with very nice elevated tents and clean comfortable bedding. The bathrooms are separate but very clean and stocked with soap and toilet paper. The showers are cold and from a bucket, to give a sense of “roughing it” but refreshing in the afternoon heat. The food is freshly prepared and amazing! Super delicious vegetarian options and always more than enough chai to go around.

We bought a package deal that included paragliding and a 2-day trek through the mountains. Paragliding was amazing, as was the overnight hike. The guides, transport and meals were all inclusive, though the lunch was just packaged junk food, buy your own if you want something more. The trek was through nearby mountains and river valley. One of the most scenic places I’ve ever been! We walked approximately 17 kms over two days and stayed overnight in tents next to a village. We were able to interact and enjoy dinner with a sweet local family. Definitely a highlight of the trip.
